The State of Online Abuse in Sport: 2025 Annual Report

Areto tracks online abuse across sport to understand not just how much harm is happening, but where it's concentrated, who it targets, and how it's evolving. This is our first annual report. It draws on over 11 million real-world social media comments across 58 sports leagues and club ecosystems in more than 70 languages, covering the full calendar year of 2025.

We publish this data because understanding the scale of the problem is the first step toward addressing it.
